Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Residents of our The Lillian Booth Actors Home have been hard at work on a new documentary by award-winning producers Hank Rogerson and Jilann Spitzmiller! Hank and Jilann are best known for their documentary Shakespeare Behind Bars.

Fourteen residents, co-directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld of the Fiasco Theatre Company, rehearsed and performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and were intricately involved in the creative process of the play (which came together after multiple filmed rehearsals and a final version performed for friends and family in late July). The doc will focus on the residents as they rehearse, identify their characters and ultimately interpret what Shakespeare’s work means to them. We look forward to sharing some clips of their work, as the filmmakers continue to edit their final version! Congrats to everyone on this project!

Affordable Housing for Angelenos in performing arts and entertainment!

We need your insights and opinions on a survey that will help us begin planning for the creation of new affordable housing in downtown LA for people in the arts. We’re excited about our partnership with organizations led by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and our work made possible by a National Endowment for the Arts grant won last year. We invite you to share your voices as a member of the Los Angeles arts and entertainment community. Together, let’s assure housing for everyone in entertainment! Click here to take the survey.
