5 Stars for The Home!

Residents were joined by more than 100 family members and friends in December to celebrate the holidays, with entertainment provided by friends at the American Guild of Variety Artists!

The Lillian Booth Actors Home recently added five more stars to its name, and we don’t mean the treasure of talented artists who reside there (including actors, dancers, musicians…well, we could go on)!

Our Englewood, New Jersey Home has once again been rated as a 5 star facility—one of only 12 in Bergen County—by the federal government website managed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The rating system was created to help families and caregivers easily compare nursing home facilities. View our 5 Star Rating.

Open Call for Volunteers!
Whether you sing, dance, play music, or prefer to work behind the scenes by visiting residents or working in our office, we invite you to share your talents with The Home! Learn more.

Thank You’s in Response to Sandy, From The Community We Serve

“During this very difficult time, I can’t really express how much it means to me and my family to receive this support…"

Client helped Post-Sandy

We’ve received so many notes of thanks from those in our community who were hurt in last fall’s storm (to date, we are coordinating care and applications related to recovery for 608 people), that we decided to share some with you on our Blog. Your support, as well as the incredible generosity of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, has helped provide more than $300,000 in emergency financial assistance to
those in need post-Sandy. Read more.

Many will need assistance in the coming months as the recovery continues. Know someone who needs help? They can still apply for the Superstorm Sandy Emergency Relief Fund.

The Artist Entrepreneur
at The Schermerhorn

Being a successful artist today requires financial savvy and an entrepreneurial spirit. The Actors Fund recently offered our creative community the opportunity to explore their “business sense” by hosting The Artist Entrepreneur workshop in December.

Sponsored by Chinatrust Bank at The Actors Fund Arts Center at The Schermerhorn in Downtown Brooklyn, the event helped arts professionals build a business strategy to support their careers. Nearly 100 participants attended to receive advice on topics ranging from setting up a business, cash flow, credit, savings, investments and home ownership.

Our Financial Wellness social worker Amanda Clayman delivered an engaging step-by-step overview followed by Chinatrust bankers, Simon Lee, Cynthia Accime-Tobias and May Cheung giving directed advice. Thank you Chinatrust Bank for this meaningful partnership and sponsorship!

Benefit Honors Kathi Moss
Original Broadway cast members and creators from the landmark musicals Grease, Nine and Grand Hotel reunited in NYC on January 14 for “KATHI MOSS' RAMA-LAMA-DING DONG REUNION!”—a one-night-only benefit for The Fund. The evening honored fellow cast member and Broadway veteran Kathi Moss, who was diagnosed with the rare disease cardiac amyloidosis in 2011. Ms. Moss originated the roles of Cha-Cha Di Gregorio (Grease), Saraghina (Nine, in which she introduced the show-stopping "Be Italian"), and Mme. PeePee (Grand Hotel). Thank you to everyone for their support of those in need in our community! View photos or watch video highlights. Photo: Bruce Glikas, Broadway.com.
