HIV/AIDS Initiative

Program Description

The Actors Fund HIV/AIDS Initiative works with men and women in the entertainment industry to create confidential, holistic plans and support systems that will meet each person’s emotional, medical and financial needs over the long term.

Our experienced Social Workers provide case management, advocacy, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, financial assistance, financial management skills development, and referrals to community resources.

A Key Resource

We are proud that our HIV/AIDS Initiative is the largest recipient of funds from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.  We also administer the Cable Positive Assistance Fund and the Brent Varner Project, and partner with The Actors Work Program in supporting The AIDS Training and Education Project (ATEP).  HIV/AIDS Initiative clients also have access to The Fund’s affordable housing developments, The Aurora in New York and The Palm View in Los Angeles.

Program Eligibility

Eligibility for The Fund's financial assistance program requires an application, documentation of your professional earnings and an interview. In general, eligibility for financial assistance is based on:

  • A minimum of five years of industry employment with earnings of at least $6,500 for three out of the last five years
  • Financial need
