New York State Adoption Service

Helps adults considering adoption learn more about the process in New York State. Their website includes a listing of approved adoption agencies, information about the process and adoption subsidies, FAQs, resources, publications and more. Also explains post-adoption services and provides links to local programs.

New York State Alliance

Provides information about and arts in public schools in New York State.

New York State HOPEline 1-877-8-HOPENY

Offers help and hope 24-hours a day, 365 days a year for alcoholism, drug abuse and problem gambling. All calls are toll-free, anonymous and confidential.

New York State information on Education and Families

Provides links and resources about a variety of topics regarding education and families. Education links include but are not limited to schools (K-12), disability issues, financial aid and higher education. Family resources comprise of topics on child care, adoption, family planning, special programs for children and safety.

New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace

New York Health State of Health is the health insurance marketplace for New Yorkers, where individuals, families and small businesses can quickly compare health plan options and enroll in health insurance. This site allows you to apply for assistance that could lower the cost of your health coverage, as well as qualify for Medicaid, the Essential Plan, and Child Health Plus.

New York State Public Service Commission

Provides information about the various New York State utilities, including electricity, natural gas, steam, telecommunications and water.

New York University Kriser Dental Center

Dental care at the College of Dentistry is primarily performed by dental students under the close supervision of experienced faculty dentists. Fees are generally about one half of the average fees in the New York City area.

NY Common Pantry

Champions the cause of the hungry through food pantry and meal distribution programs, nutrition education, basic hygiene services, homeless support, and related services. It meets the needs of families with the highest incidence of obesity and diabetes by providing culturally-appropriate and nutritiously-balanced food.

Provides a thorough list of all services and benefits available to the residents of New York City. This encompasses city government as well as all city benefits, assistance and general information.

NYS Continuation Assistance Program Application for Entertainment Industry Employees

New York State provides a 50% subsidy to residents in the entertainment industry whose current income is below a certain threshold. Those eligible for this program previously held a position in the entertainment industry and are receiving or about to receive COBRA continuation coverage through an entertainment industry union fund. This link explains income guidelines and provides an application and contact information for further questions.

Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE)

Aims to educate, empower and protect those with low incomes, so they can build assets and make the most of their financial resources. Works with government agencies, community-based organizations, philanthropic partners, think tanks, and the private sector to increase financial literacy, improve access to smart financial products and services, and protect against fraudulent and deceptive practices.

Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance

Provides detailed information about temporary assistance and related programs such as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), homeless housing programs, and child support enforcement as well as food stamps, public assistance and social security information.

Parent to Parent of New York State

A statewide non-profit organization that connects families of individuals with special needs. The parent matching program matches a parent with a trained "support parent" who also has a child with a similar disability, chronic illness or health care concern. The "support parent" helps parents with parenting concerns or questions and provides advice and information gathered from their own experiences. In addition, this site provides information about health care, housing and education for individuals with special needs.
