Social Security Administration

A federal agency that administers benefits to retired and disabled individuals, to spouses of living beneficiaries, and to child and spousal survivors of deceased individuals eligible for Social Security benefits.

SocialSecurity - Benefits for People with Disabilities

Provides assistance to people with disabilities through the Social Security Administration. Provides details about the program, a Benefits Eligibility Screening Tool and applications for Social Security benefits for adults and children with disabilities.

Space Works NYC

Dedicated to expanding the supply of long-term, affordable rehearsal and studio space for artists working in NYC.

St. Luke’s Crime Victims Treatment Center

Services offered include crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and legal advocacy (partnered with CONNECT, Manhattan Legal Services, and the New York Legal Assistance Group). Contact 212.523.4728. No cost.

Stage Directors & Choreographers (SDC)

Represents professional Stage Directors and Choreographers throughout the US.

Staten Island Arts

Develops, fosters, and promotes arts, cultural, and humanities activities on Staten Island, and provides re-grant funding within the borough.

Strategic National Arts Alumni Project

A bi-annual survey tracking the careers of BFA and MFA graduates.

Strategic National Arts Alumni Project

An annual online survey, data management, and institutional improvement system designed to enhance the impact of arts-school education. Provides longitudinal reports on BFA and MFA graduates.

Studio Museum in Harlem

Nexus for artists of African descent locally, nationally and internationally, and for work that has been inspired and influenced by black culture.

Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator

An online resource for locating drug and alcohol abuse treatment programs, listing private and public facilities that are licensed, certified, or otherwise approved for inclusion by their State substance abuse agency, and treatment facilities administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service and the Department of Defense.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used at authorized retail food stores. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income, assets and other factors. For an application call 311 or visit a local food stamp center or senior center.

Survivorship A - Z

Offers practical, financial and legal information to people diagnosed with cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-changing conditions. The site summarizes government benefits and forms of insurance coverage, lists a step-by-step guide to managing finances, offers assistance in making employment decisions during treatment and illness, and guidelines for managing treatment, medications and pain.

The Actors Fund

A national human services organization that fosters stability and resiliency, and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals over their lifespan. The Actors Fund provides comprehensive social services including counseling, crisis intervention and connections to local resources for personal, family or work related problems as well as emergency financial assistance for basic living necessities.

The Actors Fund Disability Support

Provides supportive services for entertainment professionals and their families who are coping with a short- or long-term illness or disability. Social workers help develop personalized plans, and information and advocacy is available to help negotiate medical bills, coordinate public or private benefits, arrange for home care, and facilitate referrals to community resources.

The Actors Fund HIV/AIDS Initiative

Works with men and women in the entertainment industry to create confidential, holistic plans and support systems that will meet each person's emotional, medical and financial needs over the long term. Experienced social workers provide advocacy, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, financial assistance, financial management skills development and referrals to community resources.
