Deuce - The Actors Fund Special Performance

Legendary star Angela Lansbury returns to the Broadway stage for the first time in almost 25 years!  Ms. Lansbury (the four-time Tony-winning star of Sweeney Todd and Mame, three-time Academy Award®-nominated star of The Manchurian Candidate, and four-time Golden Globe-winning star of "Murder, She Wrote") stars opposite the sensational Marian Seldes (the Tony-winning star of A Delicate Balance, Deathtrap and Dedication, or The Stuff of Dreams) in DEUCE, a new play by four-time Tony winner Terrence McNally (Love! Valour! Compassion!, Master Class, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman), directed by two-time Tony winner Michael Blakemore (Copenhagen, Kiss Me, Kate).

The story of two former doubles stars who reunite at a championship tennis match after many years, DEUCE follows this duo as they remember past successes, rehash old rivalries and reveal astonishing secrets. Warmly funny and unexpectedly moving, DEUCE is a rare gathering of four theater greats in an evening of theater that is not to be missed.

Actors Fund Special Performances have been thrilling audiences for 80 years with an electric energy unlike any other night of theatre!  What makes a Special Performance so "special"?  Each year, Broadway companies generously give their time and talent by adding a ninth performance to already rigorous schedules to benefit The Actors Fund.

We are delighted to acknowledge, with deepest appreciation, the ongoing support The Actors Fund receives from the Broadway community.  Please join us in giving a round of applause to the unions, producers, theatre operators, and members of the following organizations who make Special Performances possible by waiving their compensation to help The Actors Fund continue its vital work:

  • Actors' Equity Association
  • Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM
  • Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers
  • Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers
  • United Scenic Artists Union
