Variety’s Power of Women honors Annette Bening!

Congratulations to Annette for being honored for her work with The Actors Fund at Variety’s third annual Power of Women luncheon last Friday. Annette, joined by her husband Warren Beatty, represented us at the event at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles. Over 450 guests attended the luncheon, celebrating women in entertainment and the charities they support. (Other honorees included Mary J. Blige, Eva Longoria, Lea Michele, Stacey Snider, and Olivia Wilde). Angela Lansbury was on hand to introduce Annette who delivered a riveting speech to guests. Thanks to Annette’s participation, we’ll receive $75K in free advertising, beginning with a full page ad that appeared on the morning of the event! Thanks for the support, Annette and Angela!

Congratulations to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS…

…for Sunday’s magnificent 25th Annual Flea Market in Shubert Alley, which raised an astonishing $547,658! Special thanks and congratulations to our terrific Actors Fund staff and volunteers, led by HIV/AIDS Initiative Director Kent Curtis, who raised nearly $5,000 at our table where we sold vintage Playbills and other theatre memorabilia. Thank you to all the volunteers who made the event a tremendous success and a truly fun and fruitful day.

“What's New” in our online store?

We are proud to announce that What’s New at the Zoo," a brand-new children’s book with an introduction by trustee Phyllis Newman, is now available for purchase in our online store. Based on a song from the 1960’s musical, Do Re Mi by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, this fun, colorful, and totally silly picture book makes a great gift for young children who love animals and going to the zoo! (Can’t remember how the song goes? Click here to hear kids from NYC’s P.S. 212 perform “What’s New at the Zoo”!) And best of all, proceeds from the book’s sales will support our Phyllis Newman’s Women’s Health Initiative. Click here to visit our online store today!
