The Actors Fund Helps...

Nancy Johnston

Nancy is a working SAG, AFTRA and Equity actor. In a financial bind, she and her husband, a member of Local 1, came to The Fund for emergency financial assistance. Nancy has since “paid it forward,” by donating her time and talent to host two installments on Financial Wellness from our Podcast Series. Watch Nancy’s story.

Five Questions for...

Bryan Batt

We’re excited for our Valentine’s treat starring Patricia Clarkson and Bryan Batt in a one-night-only reading of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters! Bryan, a former Mad Men star and New Orleans native, chatted with us about his career, why Patricia Clarkson is “a dream to work with,” and what The Fund means to him. Read the interview.

Purchase tickets to Love Letters at the Westside Theatre in NYC on February 13.

Followspot: Steve Kalafer, Wall Street Journal Donor of the Day

Our donors are the true “stars” at The Fund. In “Followspot” we shine the light on you, our cherished supporters!

“What most people don’t understand is that this really is a profession for these performers, technicians and stage managers. It’s a volatile business
and we’re here to help them during that volatility.” –Steve Kalafer

On January 10, 15-year Trustee Steve Kalafer appeared as the Wall Street Journal’s “Donor of the Day!” We admire Steve’s leadership and support, and his true appreciation for helping people in entertainment. Kudos, Steve! Read the article.

On our blog, Caroline gave us a preview of what YP’s can expect!

Thanks to each and every one of you who helped achieve our Matching Gift Challenge this holiday season! YOU raised nearly $63,000! At 5 minutes to midnight on New Year’s Eve, our donors were still making gifts to reach this very generous challenge from an anonymous member. Together, we’re helping our most valued entertainment community—people like Larry, Joan and all our residents at The Lillian Booth Home (here in a charming video singing “I’ll Be Seeing You”). Here’s to a wonderful 2012!
