Team Selected to Develop “Micro-Unit” Project in Manhattan


New York City is changing. As it strives to nurture and retain the creative and talented individuals that make the city thrive, the housing stock must change as well. The Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation (AFHDC) is honored to have been selected, in partnership with Monadnock Development, to develop a residence in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan that uses modular technology and intelligent design solutions to showcase the “micro-living” concept. The project, dubbed My Micro NY catering to New York City’s expanding population of one- and two-person households. Read more.

In Development—Broadway Arts Center in Los Angeles

Along with our partner, Artspace, we’re moving toward selecting a site for the Broadway Arts Center, a mixed-use development in downtown Los Angeles that will include 100 affordable apartments for artists, retail, and cultural space. Scott Weiner, CEO of AFHDC, was in LA earlier this month to present a short list of viable sites to the Broadway Cultural Quarter (BCQ) Working Group. This group was created through the leadership of Olga Garay-English, managing director of the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, to re-energize a flagging section of the downtown (near Broadway, a street with the largest concentration of historic theatres in the US) with new cultural spaces and activities. Rahway Survey Results Encouraging for New Jersey Regional Development

As a member of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, I spend a lot of time working with colleagues, organizations, and citizens to advance Governor Christie’s goals to foster thriving artistic endeavors and contribute to the growing vitality of the creative economy in our state’s diverse communities. While originally intended to measure market demand for their affordable artist housing development in Rahway, NJ; the results of a survey conducted by the Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation have important implications for these pursuits. Providing a Home for Artists and Strengthening Communities





Facilities owned and managed by the AFHDC and The Actors Fund provide homes to close to 600 low-income working professionals in the performing arts and entertainment, seniors and individuals with special needs, including those living with HIV/AIDS…Read more.
