Celeste played a leading role in rebuilding The Actors Fund and then focused on renovating our nursing home and assisted living care facility in Englewood, New Jersey. She served as a Trustee Chair of the Committee overseeing The Home and, more recently, as a member of our National Board of Advisors. On May 31, 2012 we unveiled this beautiful portrait of Celeste by renowned artist Joel Spector at The Actors Fund Home. This portrait became a part of a permanent collection of art at The Lillian Booth Actors Home. A capacity crowd filled the Musicares’ Art Salon where we toasted Celeste. The ceremonies were organized by Joel Vig, Bernie Kaufman and Ken Murray, and emceed by Joel. Speeches and performance filled the room with Elizabeth Wilson, Steve Ross, Larry Woodard, KT Sullivan, and Celeste's husband Frank Basile, all taking star turns. We were proud to recognize Celeste and celebrate her commitment to The Actors Fund. We send condolences to Celeste’s widower, Frank, and her sons Ted Nelson and Dan Dunning, and their families. We will miss Celeste and always celebrate her legacy of compassion and caring. Joseph P. Benincasa July 16, 2012
